BUFFALO BIKE TOURS FAQ
Where and WHEN DO the tours leave FROM?
We currently offer daily tours leaving at 10:30AM and 4:30PM, although that is subject to change depending on demand throughout the summer. All tours depart from Buffalo Bike Tours’ Canalside Kiosk (130 Main St). Please check the times on the tour page and your ticket. We will depart just shortly after the scheduled time and recommend you arrive 10 minutes early to be sure to catch the tour or you may be sadly be out of luck.
Where DO I PARK IF I HAVE A CAR?
In addition to parking at the Naval & Military Park and Erie Basin Marina, ample parking and access can be found near Canalside:
Surface lots and ramps via Washington Street or Michigan Avenue
Parking in the historic Cobblestone District, a short two blocks from Canalside
Lots along Perry Street
KeyBank Center and Harborcenter parking ramps, with accessible parking
On-street and metered parking on surrounding streets
NFTA-Metro’s Erie Canal Harbor rail stop, which brings you right to Canalside’s front door.
ARE ticketS needed?
Almost certainly. We anticipate many of our rides will be quite popular during our busy season and tours are limited to 15 attendees each. All ticket holders will be checked in first before any walk-ons, and walk-ons will also be required to register for a ticket the day of. So get your ticket now and make sure you get a spot on the ride while you can!
Is the A MINIMUM NUMBER OF RIDERS REQUIRED TO RUN A TOUR?
We need at least two people to run a history tour and four people to run a food tour. In the event there are not the minimum sign-ups, the ride will be cancelled and you will be refunded in full. We will tell you at least 24 hours in advance as to if we need to cancel or reschedule.
Is the BUFFALO B/SIDES BIKE tour really free?
Yes, the B/Sides Bike Tour is free for everyone to join! If you have a good time (and you will), we encourage you to tip generously at the conclusion. A donation of $20 is asked and greatly appreciated, but nobody will be turned away for lack of funds. It is our way to lower the barrier to participate and is our gift to our fair city.
Do you supply bikes? What if I don't have one? Where can I get one?
A bike is not included with the tour. If you do not have a bike and would like to rent one, we highly suggest renting one of ours. You can also get one from Reddy Bikeshare (download their app and use promo code "BSIDES19" to waive their $8.50 registration fee). There are several racks located near the hostel.
How in shape do I need to be? How strenuous are we talking about?
Buffalo Bike Tours rides range in distance from 8-10 miles in total. Buffalo is relatively flat and there are really no significant climbs. The rate is leisurely so everyone can join. In other words, you can leave your full body spandex at home :)
Are there minimum age requirements to join the ride?
There are no minimum age requirements to attend, however, parental discretion is advised for younger audiences. There are some adult themes and language used (prostitution, abortion, LGBT) and we don't want to damage any young, impressionable minds.
What if it rains?
We run tours rain or shine unless it's very inclement weather. Refunds will be issued on a case-by-case basis. In the case of extremely weather, we are happy to issue a refund.
I have a group of more than five people. Do you do private tours?
For groups of more than five people, please check out our private tours. We would be happy to make arrangements to accommodate your group.
I have more questions. How can I get ahold of YOU with any questions?
